Proceeds will go to the Manchester Evening News fund raising appeal for victims.

Liam Gallagher has announced a charity gig in the wake of the Manchester terror attack.

The former Oasis frontman will play the O2 Ritz on Thursday, May 30, with all proceeds going to the Manchester Evening News fund raising appeal for victims.

Twenty two people were killed and dozens were injured after suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated an explosive at Ariana Grande’s Manchester arena concert on Monday night.

Gallagher said he decided to donate all of the proceeds in a bid to “help pick people up”.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News he said: “I just knew I had to. I’m not in it for the money. The gig was going to happen anyway and we all have to do what we can.

“I want to try and help pick people up. People like me, doing what we do, it’s our duty to give people a good time.”

He continued: “It’s outrageous. Just so sad. What can you do? It’s just f****** out of order. There are kids and people dying all over the world. And for what?

“I’d gone to bed early - about 10pm - then got up in the morning to a text from my other brother saying what had gone on and I put the TV on. It’s just unbelievable.”

Gallagher, who hails from the city, was among several stars who paid tribute in the wake of the tragedy.

He tweeted: “In total shock and absolutely devastated about what's gone down in MANCHESTER sending Love and Light to all the family's involved LG x.”

The Manchester date will kick-off Gallagher's mini tour which will see him perform at London’s Electric Ballroom in Brixton, Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and Glasgow Barrowlands.

Gallagher teased a “massive announcement” on Thursday night, telling fans: “The wait is nearly over Brothers n Sisters massive announcement first thing tomorrow morning sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite LG x.”

The news comes days after he announced details about his first solo single, Wall Of Glass.

His debut solo album, which saw him team up with Adele's producer, Greg Kurstin, will be called, As You Were and is slated for release in October.

Tickets go on sale at 9am today.
