James Corden Fires Back At Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher told GQ last week there was “no f*cking chance” he would appear on James Corden’s 'Carpool Karaoke'.

“No, thank you very much, No fucking chance mate. With that fat bloke from Kevin and Perry?”

Gallagher was referring to Gavin & Stacey, that Corden starred in before taking over The Late Late Show in 2015. “I don’t need to watch it to know I won’t like it. James Corden is a knobhead”.

When asked by The Daily Beast if he saw the remarks he said “I did see that, yeah, God, I just don’t know how we’ll carry on, I don’t how we’ll even think of carrying on. Yeah, God, what will we do?”.

On This Day In Oasis History...

"Roll With It" is a song by English rock band Oasis, written by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. It was released on 14 August 1995 as the second single (the lead single) from their second album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, reaching #2 on the UK Singles Chart.

'Battle' with Blur

"Roll with It" received a great deal of attention when Food Records, the label of Britpop rivals Blur, moved the original release date of the single "Country House" to clash with it, sparking what came to be known as "The Battle of Britpop". The British media had already reported an intense rivalry between the two bands and this clash of releases was seen as a battle for the number one spot. The media sensation was spurred on by verbal attacks from the respective camps (in particular Noel and Liam Gallagher, Damon Albarn and Alex James), that extended beyond the music industry to the point where the two bands were regularly mentioned on the evening news. In particular, public imagination was sparked by the contrast between the gritty, working class Oasis and the artsy, middle class Blur. In the end, Blur's "Country House" single sold 274,000 copies to Oasis' 216,000 copies of "Roll with It". The singles charted at number 1 and number 2 respectively.

Top of the Pops performance

When Oasis played "Roll with It" on British chart show Top of the Pops they were required to mime the song, and in doing so the Gallagher brothers switched roles with Liam pretending to play guitar and Noel pretending to sing (equipped with Liam's tambourine).

Marketing

The single artwork features a photograph of the band on the beach at Weston-super-Mare. Many potential locations were examined along the Somerset and Avon coastline (Oasis were playing Glastonbury that weekend, so a beach within striking distance of the festival site had to be found). In the background is the Grand Pier which burnt down in July 2008. This has made the original vinyl artwork (particularly the 12" single) highly collectable.

Oasis had been following in the footsteps of their idols The Beatles, who were photographed on the beach wearing Victorian bathing costumes in 1963.

Liam Gallagher On His Album, Beady Eye, Oasis, Noel And More

Liam Gallagher has a fiery reputation. When he introduces himself, he wears his forever dark sunglasses and a long Stone Island coat that he just bought the morning of our interview.

He does not like wearing shirts when on stage and prefers “comfortable” clothing. This is, however, perhaps the only visibly comfortable aspect of the founding member of the rock band Oasis. No longer in the band, the singer is known for his mood swings and battles with Noel, his older brother and former bandmate.

We caught up with the 44 year old in Montreal to know more about his relationship with Noel Gallagher, future plans and life.

Liam Gallagher Won't Release A Second Solo Album If His First Album "Bombs"

According to reports, the former Oasis frontman has said he won't release a second album if his debut isn't successful.

Liam Gallagher has said he won't release a second solo effort if his first album "bombs".

The Oasis legend is preparing to release his As You Were LP on 6 October, and has told the Daily Star there's "no real point" releasing another LP if his debut

As reported by the Evening Standard,  the outspoken rocker told the outlet: “If the album comes out and it bombs, there is no real point doing another one".

“There is no point going through the rigmarole of interviews and touring if no-one wants it.”

Then, referring to some rock acts who crossed over into dance music, Gallagher added: "I won’t change genre. I won’t do an EDM track to jump on that bandwagon and just to stay in the limelight as they say".

Meanwhile, last week saw Gallagher unveil another cut from his new album in For What It's Worth.

Liam Gallagher Is Unable To Play Oasis' Wonderwall On His Guitar

Liam Gallagher has revealed he's never properly learned to play Oasis' Wonderwall.

He told Rolling Stone magazine's Music Now podcast"I don't even know how to play it on guitar, there's the joke," he told Rolling Stone magazine's Music Now podcast. "I seriously don't know how to play it. My kid knows how to play it... but  I seriously do not know how to play it on guitar."

Liam said that he had became a bit "sick" of the track, which is Oasis' best selling-single as well as being their biggest U.S. hit.

However, he said he was now enjoying playing a stripped-down version of the song on tour.

"I'm actually enjoying playing it again with just a (backing musician playing) guitar and a voice and a shaker, people seem to like it," he added.

On This Day In Oasis History...

On August 10th 1996, Oasis played the first of two nights at Knebworth. Support for the two days included The Prodigy, Ocean Colour Scene, Charlatans, Manic Street Preachers, Kula Shaker and Dreadzone.

Below is a review from THE TIMES of the show.

Review: Oasis at Knebworth, 1996

One in 20 Britons applied for tickets to see Oasis in concert at Knebworth. Our critic joined the crowd on Saturday.

Three million people, 5 per cent of the population, applied for tickets and those lucky enough to get them were treated to two new songs, My Big Mouth and It's Getting Better Man , along with tried and tested hits. With a guest list of 7,000 there were plenty of opportunities for star-spotting: Mick Hucknall of Simply Red, Jarvis Cocker and Kate Moss made their way to the celebrity enclosure to compare bodyguards with Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit, and all looked disingenuously surprised when mobbed by amateur paparazzi.

For those not chosen as Kate Moss's plus one, there were tickets still available at a price. Cro-Magnon touts were willing to get you into "The Gig of the Decade" for £300, a sizeable mark-up from £22.50. Once inside, many would have gladly paid £300 to avoid queues. There were 400-yard tailbacks for each bar and toilet. But with the temperature into the 70s and a PA so powerful everyone was guaranteed to leave touched by tinnitus, such matters were of little importance. Oasis took to the stage at 9pm, greeted by a roar so huge that flocks of birds took to the sky from Knebworth's old oaks.

"Hello, hello, hello," Liam said, making a fairly good job of John Lennon's famous "retard" impression. "Let's go." And off they went, kicking out the music that has made the Top 40 truly exciting for the first time in ten years and working hard for the estimated £5.6 million the weekend accrued.

Joined for the inevitable encore of Champagne Supernova by The Stone Roses's ex-guitar player John Squire, Oasis bowed out in a blaze of guitar solos and a firework display. As many tired and emotional punters fell over backwards, disorientated from staring at the sky so long, Martin Carr of the Boo Radleys said: "Everyone in Britain - except Damon from Blur - loves Oasis. They can do no wrong." He would appear to be right.

Liam Gallagher Would Choose Oasis Over A Solo Career

Singer says he would choose Oasis over a solo career

Liam Gallagher has said that there’s “far too many” solo stars and that the majority of them are “c*nts”, further reiterating that he would prefer to be back in Oasis.

The Britpop frontman had previously denied that he would go solo, arguing that he wouldn’t do so because he is “not a c**t”. Upon announcing details of his solo record, he tweeted: “It’s official I’m a c*nt”.

Speaking to Noisey recently, Gallagher was asked about these comments. He replied: “Well yeah, the majority of solo stars are c*nts. The ones that split bands up because they need their egos fuckin’ stroked are the biggest c*nts.”

He added: “If someone said to me, ‘OK, get Oasis back or go solo?’ I’d get Oasis back. There’s not enough bands out there. There’s far too many fuckin’ solo stars. It’s shit. This is the last fuckin’ roll of the dice for me. For me to go and get another band back together it’d only be compared to Oasis anyway, so what’s the fuckin’ point? So the solo thing? I’ll give it a fuckin’ go, man.”

Liam Gallagher Isn't Arsed About Dance Music

Musician and songwriter Liam Gallagher is about to release his debut album as a solo artist, but before the material drops he’s doing a bit of his classic bashing and says he doesn’t care much for dance music, or anything else for that matter.

In an interview with Noisey, the Oasis frontman lets loose on a plethora of topics. On the subject of music, Liam reveals he’s not interested in anything new these days.

“I'm not arsed about fuckin' dance music and reggae. Well, reggae's alright. But there's too many so-called rock'n'roll bands in England getting away with fuckin' murder. They should be ashamed of the shit the put out. They need fuckin' shooting.”

Liam then elaborates on the subject, touching on how dance music acts or bands use the guitar as somewhat of a gimmick.

“They've got one foot in the fuckin' dance world and one foot in the fuckin' guitar world and they're just seeing which one fuckin' bites. They're there with their fuckin' keyboards and whistles and shit. If you're going to do ‘guitar music’ you have to put a fuckin' guitar on a record. Put the fucker in. Stop wearing it like it's a fuckin' necklace.”
